Reel-in a new fishing boat at the Greenwich Boat Show

Consider, for a moment, life without a fishing boat. That means no hanging out with your buddies sharing laughs as you chase down fish in Long Island Sound. No seeing the excitement on the face of your child or grandchild as you help them reel in their first keeper from the deck of your boat. And no chance for you to escape the hassles of everyday life by heading out on the water alone to try landing a few stripers.

Pretty bleak, huh?

Luckily, if you don’t have a fishing boat, you can fix that by heading to the Greenwich Boat Show on April 11 and 12 on the Mianus River in Cos Cob. The Greenwich Boat Show has become a favorite among Northeast boaters, who are invited to walk along the docks and test out new boats on the open waters of Long Island Sound. The show has long been known for its impressive variety of powerboats, and this year’s show will feature the largest collection of dealers and boats yet.
Fishermen will enjoy the show’s huge selection of fishing boats to consider. On hand will be boats from Regulator, the makers of some of the world’s finest offshore fishing boats, and the legendary, unsinkable Boston Whaler. Stylish, versatile and reliable, Edgewater powerboats are also sure to receive a lot of attention at the show. Boats from Scout Boats and Sea Fox, with their intelligently-designed vessels, will be on hand. Grady White and Pursuit, both known for their great cruising as well as fishing vessels, will have models at the show. And for those who want to fish from the stability and comfort of a dual hull, they can try out a World Cat.

And that’s just the beginning. Besides fishing boats, the Greenwich Boat Show will feature a variety of other styles, including luxury, cruising and family boats. To make sure you get to try out the boat you want, show organizers recommend attendees visit the show’s website to schedule sea-trials in advance. www.greenwichboatshow.com.
